Dr Hyekyung Choo
Dr Hyekyung Choo is an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Department of Social Work. She holds a Master of Social Work from Temple University and a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvina, USA. Since 2005, her research has focused on adolescent health risk behaviours and cyber-wellness, particularly Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). She examines social determinants affecting IGD, its impact on youth relationships, and intervention strategies. Recently, she has also studied problematic social media use month among youth, collaborating internationally to explore how media factors influence attention, cognitive control, and psychosocial wellness.
