Dr Eliza Yong
Dr Eliza Yong has been a Senior Counsellor at the Institute of Mental Health since 2009. She specialises in providing assessments and interventions for individuals with substance and behavioural addictions, as well as support for affected family members. Her work also focuses on reducing family violence and delivering public talks on addiction, recovery, and emotion management.
Dr Yong holds a Doctor of Psychology from The Professional School of Psychology in the USA and is certified in substance and gambling addiction counselling. In 2013, she completed an attachment with The Connection Inc in the USA, gaining experience in outpatient services, women's addiction rehabilitation, and homeless shelters. Dr Yong is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Schema Therapy.
